Job Title: Administrative Intern with Teaching Responsibilities
Position Summary
The High School Administrative Internship is designed as a comprehensive training opportunity for aspiring school administrators while providing additional administrative leadership support within the building. This position blends administrative responsibilities with continued classroom teaching to ensure strong instructional leadership development. The intern assists in the effective and efficient management of the school while gaining practical experience in high school administration.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Valid Missouri Secondary Principal Certificate or eligibility to obtain a valid Missouri Principal Certificate
- Minimum of three (3) years of successful classroom teaching experience
- Leadership experience preferred
- Demonstrated instructional expertise and strong organizational skills
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills
Essential Job Duties
Administrative Leadership & School Operations
- Assist with the general administration of the high school and serve in the absence of the principal and assistant principal.
- Develop familiarity with administrative duties, instructional programs, and school procedures.
- Make recommendations regarding administrative procedures and instructional programs.
- Confer with administration regarding school activities and special concerns.
- Assist in preparing reports, records, and required documentation.
- Assist with requisitioning, receiving, distributing, and accounting for supplies, textbooks, and equipment.
- Assist in developing the master schedule and coordinating student assignment/registration processes.
- Maintain accurate and confidential student records.
- Assist in preparing and updating teacher and student handbooks.
- Supervise student attendance reporting and monitoring.
Instructional Leadership & Staff Support
- Assist in evaluating the instructional program and recommend improvements.
- Support implementation and monitoring of approved curriculum guides.
- Organize and support faculty, departmental, and support team meetings.
- Provide feedback to improve classroom instruction, teacher-student rapport, and behavior management.
- Evaluate assigned staff members in accordance with Board policy and district procedures; identify strengths and growth areas.
Student Supervision & Activities
- Provide active supervision to maintain high standards of student conduct.
- Oversee and enforce discipline in accordance with district policy.
- Assist in organizing, supervising, and evaluating the student activities program.
- Attend and supervise assigned school-sponsored events and special activities.
Community & Communication
- Communicate clearly and effectively with parents, staff, families, and community members.
- Serve as a liaison between the school and community.
- Collaborate with parent, staff, and student groups as requested.
School Safety & Support Services
- Assist in preparing and implementing emergency management plans.
- Cooperate with support service personnel in organizing effective maintenance, custodial, food service, and other operational programs.
Teaching Responsibilities
- Maintain assigned classroom teaching responsibilities.
- Demonstrate effective instructional practices aligned with district curriculum.
- Model professional conduct and instructional excellence.
Other Duties and Responsibilities
- Perform other tasks and assume additional responsibilities as required by law or assigned by the principal or superintendent.
Terms of Employment
- Employed on the teacher calendar with 20 extended days (to be paid at the current daily rate)
- Compensation consistent with the teacher salary schedule plus $3,000 stipend for additional responsibilities
