Position Summary

Southern Boone High School is seeking a  Business Teacher for the 2026-27 school year. We are looking for an enthusiastic educator who can inspire students while helping grow and strengthen our Business Department. 

The selected candidate will deliver high-quality instruction, foster a positive and engaging learning environment, and design meaningful lessons that prepare students with essential business and career skills. This educator will also play an active role in reviewing and refining curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional strategies to support continuous improvement.

 

In addition to classroom instruction, the Business Teacher will serve as the sponsor for Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA). The sponsor will guide students in leadership development, competitive events, and community engagement while working to expand participation and grow the FBLA program within the school. This includes recruiting new members, supporting student leadership opportunities, and promoting business and career readiness through FBLA activities.

 

This position may also include assisting with the Yearbook class, guiding students through the planning, design, and production of the school yearbook using a project-based learning approach.

 

Southern Boone High School operates within a Professional Learning Community (PLC) model. We are looking for a collaborative educator who values teamwork, uses student data to inform instruction, and implements targeted interventions that support student achievement and growth.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide engaging, high-quality instruction in business-related courses.
  
  
• Design and implement lessons that build students’ business, technology, and career-readiness skills.
  
  
• Serve as the FBLA advisor, supporting student participation in leadership activities, competitions, conferences, and service projects while actively working to grow and strengthen the FBLA chapter.
  
  
• Lead the Yearbook class (if applicable), guiding students through the planning, design, and production of the school yearbook.
  
  
• Develop, update, and refine curriculum, lesson plans, and instructional strategies.
  
  
• Create a classroom environment that promotes meaningful student engagement and positive relationships.
  
  
• Collaborate with colleagues within the PLC structure to improve instruction and student outcomes.
  
  
• Analyze student performance data and use insights to adjust instruction and support student growth.
  
  

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Education or a related field.
  
  
• Valid state certification (or eligibility) in Business Education.
  
  
• Experience with yearbook production or student-led project management preferred.
  
  
• Ability to organize and support student leadership organizations, particularly FBLA.
  
  
• Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills.
  
  
• Ability to analyze student data and use it to guide instructional decisions.
  
  
• Commitment to fostering a positive, inclusive, and student-centered learning environment.
