High School English Teacher
Description:
Southern Boone High School is looking for a English Teacher to join our high school faculty. The ideal candidate will foster an engaging classroom environment that promotes critical thinking, strong communication skills, and a love of literature and language. This position involves teaching core English courses, which may include English I–IV.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver standards-based English lessons that align with the curriculum and state guidelines.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Incorporate literature, writing workshops, discussions, and technology to support active learning.
- Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, tests, essays, and projects, and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Foster a classroom culture of inquiry, respect, and academic excellence, in alignment with the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
- Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to collaborate on instructional strategies, data analysis, and student interventions.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and parents to support student development.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in English Education or a related field.
- Valid teaching certification/license in Missouri for secondary social studies.
- Previous teaching experience at the high school level (preferred).
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
