We are looking for a passionate and dedicated Part-Time English Language Teacher (EL) and Interventionist to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to delivering high-quality language instruction to students of varying proficiency levels, supporting them in developing strong English communication skills. You will be responsible for creating engaging lesson plans, assessing student progress, and fostering an inclusive and supportive learning environment, particularly for non-native English speakers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, and deliver effective English language lessons tailored to students with diverse proficiency levels.
- Teach speaking, listening, reading, and writing skills to help students improve their English language abilities.
- Develop and implement interactive classroom activities and learning materials that enhance student engagement.
- Assess student progress through tests, assignments, and ongoing feedback.
- Create individualized learning plans for students requiring additional support.
- Cultivate a positive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages active participation and communication.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and performance.
- Communicate regularly with parents or guardians regarding student performance and progress.
- Participate in school meetings, professional development opportunities, and collaborative team efforts as required.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Education, English, Linguistics, or a related field (required).
- TESOL, TEFL, or CELTA certification (preferred).
- Prior experience teaching English as a second language (ESL) or working with English language learners (EL).
- Strong understanding of language acquisition and effective teaching strategies.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to adapt teaching methods to meet the needs of diverse learners.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for teaching and student development.
- Experience as an EL Teacher is preferred.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Create individualized academic plans for all EL students.
- Complete and file Notification of English Proficiency Test Results and ELD Placement Eligibility forms for each student, and send a copy to parents.
- Teach newcomer students for 30 minutes to 1 hour per day, and non-newcomer students for 30 minutes twice a week.
- Participate in annual WIDA assessment training (ACCESS and Screener).
- Administer the WIDA Screener within 30 days of a new student's arrival.
- Administer the WIDA ACCESS test each winter to all active and monitor students.
- Collaborate with the District testing administrator to procure necessary testing materials.
- Provide guidance and support to teachers and staff working with EL students.
- Update the LAU plan annually.
