Southern Boone Primary School is looking for a 1st Grade Teacher to join our team. The 1st Grade Teacher will be responsible for creating a positive, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for young students. This role involves teaching foundational academic skills, fostering emotional and social development, and ensuring that each child’s unique needs are met in an inclusive and supportive classroom setting.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support the growth of literacy, numeracy, and social-emotional skills.
- Create a welcoming, inclusive, and safe classroom environment where children feel valued, confident, and excited to learn.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to promote a sense of community.
- Use a variety of teaching methods and tools to engage children in active learning and creative exploration.
- Monitor and assess children’s academic progress and provide personalized support where needed.
- Encourage positive behaviors, including cooperation, respect, responsibility, and self-regulation.
- Manage classroom routines, such as daily schedules, transitions, and activities, in an organized and efficient manner.
- Collaborate with other educators, support staff, and parents to ensure the academic and emotional development of students.
- Attend professional development sessions and stay current with the latest teaching strategies and educational trends.
- Maintain student records, including attendance, academic progress, and behavioral notes, in accordance with school policies.
- Participate in school events, such as parent-teacher conferences, school assemblies, and community activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education (B-3) or Elementary Education (1-6).
- Previous teaching experience in a 1st grade or elementary school setting is preferred.
- Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team and collaborate with colleagues and parents.
- A passion for working with young children and fostering their academic and social growth.
