We are seeking a passionate and dedicated Special Education Teacher to join our Middle School team. The ideal candidate will be student-centered, creative, and possess excellent relational skills to create an inclusive environment that promotes student success and growth. In this role, you will work with students with learning, behavioral, and physical disabilities, providing individualized support and guidance to help them reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide direct instruction and support to students with disabilities, ensuring that each student’s Individualized Education Plan (IEP) is followed.
- Author IEPs for students to include appropriate goals, accommodations/modifications, and present levels of academic performance
- Adapt and modify classroom materials and activities to meet the diverse learning needs of students.
- Collaborate with general education teachers, staff, and parents to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment.
- Implement behavior management strategies to foster positive student behavior and social skills development.
- Monitor and assess student progress regularly, making adjustments to instruction as needed.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, IEP goals, and other required documentation.
- Participate in professional development opportunities and contribute to the growth of the school as a Professional Learning Community.
- Promote an atmosphere of high expectations for all students and encourage their active participation in classroom activities.
- Serve as a resource for students, families, and staff in addressing special education needs and concerns.
Qualifications:
- A valid Missouri teaching certificate for Special Education at the middle school level is required.
- Experience working with students with learning, behavioral, and/or physical disabilities.
- Strong knowledge of special education laws, IEP processes, and best practices.
- Experience with Standards-Based Teaching and Grading is preferred.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work collaboratively with students, families, and staff.
- Strong organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- A commitment to professional growth and participation in school-wide initiatives.
