The Southern Boone School District is seeking applicants for a Physical Education/Health Teacher for the Middle School (grades 5-8). This position involves teaching both Physical Education and Health to students. The ideal candidate believes every student can succeed at high levels of learning and is an enthusiastic, positive team player dedicated to student achievement. 

 

Key Responsibilities:

• Teach Physical Education and Health curriculum to middle school students (grades 5-8).
• Develop engaging and developmentally appropriate lessons focused on physical fitness, health education, and well-being.
• Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for students to develop both socially and physically.
• Monitor and assess student progress through individual and group activities.
• Collaborate with colleagues to continually improve instruction and student outcomes as part of a Professional Learning Community.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and guardians regarding progress and student achievement.
• Provide individualized support to students as needed, ensuring access to all aspects of the curriculum.
• Support extracurricular activities such as after-school sports or wellness events (if applicable).
• Participate in professional development activities to enhance teaching practices.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
• Valid state certification (or eligibility) in Physical Education and/or Health.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
