Assist teachers with classroom instruction, organization, and management.
Work one-on-one or with small groups of students to reinforce academic concepts and support skill development.
Support students with special needs as outlined in Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) or 504 plans.
Monitor and support student behavior, encouraging positive decision-making, self-management, and appropriate social interactions.
Assist students in staying organized, completing assignments, and developing study and executive functioning skills.
Provide supervision and support during class transitions, lunch periods, assemblies, field trips, and other school activities.
Prepare, organize, and maintain instructional materials, technology, and classroom resources.
Document student observations, academic progress, and behavioral data as directed by supervising staff.
Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to meet student needs.
Foster a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment that promotes student engagement and success.
Maintain confidentiality and adhere to all district policies, procedures, and professional standards.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; associate degree or two years of postsecondary education preferred.
Must meet applicable state or district paraprofessional certification requirements (e.g., ParaPro Assessment).
Prior experience working with adolescents in an educational, recreational, or youth development setting preferred.
Ability to support students with academic, emotional, behavioral, and social needs.
Strong communication, interpersonal, and teamwork skills.
Ability to build positive relationships with middle school students while maintaining appropriate boundaries and expectations.
Flexibility to work with diverse student populations and across multiple classrooms or programs as needed.
Working Conditions
May include physical activity such as standing, walking, bending, and lifting up to 25 lbs.
Positions are available in multiple district buildings, with placements based on student needs and staffing priorities.
May work with students requiring additional academic, behavioral, emotional, or social support.
May be reassigned to other buildings or programs based on district and student needs.
