Title: High School Social Studies Teacher

Position Overview:
Southern Boone High School is seeking a qualified and passionate Social Studies Teacher to join our high school faculty for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will create an engaging classroom environment that promotes historical thinking, civic awareness, and critical analysis. This position includes teaching core social studies courses such as U.S. History, World History, Government and/or Personal Finance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver standards-based social studies instruction aligned with district curriculum and Missouri state standards.

  • Utilize a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse learning needs of students.

  • Incorporate primary sources, simulations, debates, and technology to support active and inquiry-based learning.

  • Assess student learning through assignments, quizzes, tests, essays, and projects, and provide timely and meaningful feedback.

  • Maintain accurate records of student progress, grades, and attendance.

  • Foster a positive classroom culture that promotes inquiry, respect, and academic excellence, aligned with the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.

  • Participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to collaborate on instructional practices, analyze student data, and support student interventions.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and families to support student success.

  • Attend staff meetings, professional development, and school-sponsored events.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Social Studies Education, History, Political Science, or a related field.

  • Valid Missouri teaching certification in Secondary Social Studies.

  • Previous high school teaching experience preferred.

  • Strong classroom management and organizational skills.

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
