The Southern Boone County Primary School is looking for a Part-Time Reading Support Teacher to join our team. The ideal candidate will be committed to helping students of varying reading abilities develop strong literacy skills and confidence. This role focuses on delivering targeted reading instruction and interventions, supporting students who require additional help to reach grade-level expectations. You will design engaging reading activities, monitor student progress, and collaborate closely with classroom teachers and parents to foster a love of reading and literacy growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, plan, and deliver effective reading intervention lessons tailored to individual and small-group needs.
- Support students in developing phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension skills.
- Implement structured reading programs and adapt materials to support diverse learners.
- Assess student reading progress using diagnostic and formative tools.
- Develop individualized support plans for students who require additional reading instruction.
- Create an inclusive, engaging, and supportive learning environment.
- Maintain accurate records of student progress, attendance, and reading levels.
- Communicate regularly with classroom teachers and parents regarding student development.
- Participate in school meetings, literacy initiatives, professional development, and team planning sessions.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field (required).
- Certified to work in a K-2 setting (required).
- Prior experience delivering reading interventions or working with primary-aged children.
- Strong understanding of literacy development and evidence-based reading instruction.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to differentiate instruction to meet a range of learning needs.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for supporting student growth.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Develop and update individualized reading plans for target students.
- Track student progress toward reading benchmarks and adjust interventions accordingly.
- Assist with school-wide literacy events and reading assessments.
- Contribute to the development of school literacy policy and practices.
