Southern Boone High School is looking for a Science Teacher to join our high school faculty. The ideal candidate will foster a dynamic and engaging classroom environment that promotes scientific inquiry, critical thinking, and a love for learning. This position involves teaching foundational science concepts across disciplines such as biology, physical science, and earth/space science.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and deliver standards-based science lessons that align with the curriculum and state guidelines.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to accommodate diverse learning styles and abilities.
- Incorporate hands-on activities, labs, and technology to support interactive learning.
- Assess student progress through assignments, quizzes, tests, and projects, and provide timely feedback.
- Maintain accurate records of student performance and attendance.
- Foster a classroom culture of curiosity, respect, and academic excellence, in alignment with the school’s Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports (PBIS) framework.
- Actively participate in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs) to collaborate on instructional strategies, data analysis, and student interventions.
- Collaborate with fellow teachers, administrators, and parents to support student development.
- Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and school events.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Science Education or a related science field.
- Valid teaching certification/license in Missouri for secondary science.
- Previous teaching experience at the high school level (preferred).
- Strong classroom management and organizational skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
