The PreK Instructional Aide supports the Lead PreK Teacher in providing a safe, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for young children. The aide works directly with students to implement lesson plans, assist with classroom management, and provide individualized support to children in their academic, social, and emotional development.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist the Lead PreK Teacher with implementing daily lesson plans, activities, and curriculum.
- Provide individualized support to students, including those with special needs, to ensure each child’s learning needs are met.
- Help supervise students during classroom activities, free play, lunch, recess, and transitions.
- Support classroom management by maintaining a positive and productive learning environment.
- Assist in the preparation and organization of instructional materials and classroom resources.
- Encourage and reinforce positive behaviors, fostering a safe and respectful environment.
- Monitor students’ progress and provide feedback to the Lead Teacher on academic and behavioral development.
- Help with classroom setup and cleaning, ensuring the classroom is organized and ready for daily activities.
- Support social and emotional development through one-on-one interactions, helping children develop skills in communication, problem-solving, and teamwork.
- Ensure the safety and well-being of all students by following school policies and procedures.
- Attend and participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other school-related activities as required.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Lead Teacher or school administration.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent (required).
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field (preferred).
- Experience working with young children in a school or childcare setting (preferred).
- Ability to work collaboratively with teachers, staff, and parents.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, creativity, and a passion for working with young children.
- Ability to manage classroom behaviors and maintain a positive learning environment.
