Southern Boone High School is seeking applicants for a Physical Education/Health Teacher for the High School (grades 9-12). This position involves teaching both Physical Education and Health to students. The ideal candidate is committed to fostering student success at the highest levels of learning, brings enthusiasm to the classroom, and is a collaborative, positive team player dedicated to student achievement.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach Physical Education and Health curriculum to high school students (grades 9-12).
  • Develop engaging and age-appropriate lessons that focus on physical fitness, health education, and overall well-being.
  • Create a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment that promotes both personal and physical development.
  • Monitor and assess student progress through individual and group activities, providing constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to continually enhance instructional strategies and student outcomes as part of a Professional Learning Community.
  • Maintain regular communication with students, parents, and guardians regarding progress, achievements, and areas for improvement.
  • Provide individualized support to students as needed to ensure equitable access to all curriculum components.
  • Support extracurricular activities, such as after-school sports programs or wellness initiatives (if applicable).
  • Engage in professional development opportunities to improve teaching methods and stay current with educational trends.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education, Health Education, or a related field.
  • Valid state certification (or eligibility) in Physical Education and/or Health.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with students, colleagues, and parents.
